An Intro from me: Scott Kelso, GM MacDirect
Inspired by Murray's musings, I thought I would share a little bit about me and my time with MacDirect.
In 2016 I started working with MacDirect's director Murray Grant, learning all about the qualities of building with Macrocarpa. I had never had experience with Mac before. In fact my entire experience of timber was working with treated pine.
My background was in marketing and media, so working with timber was very new and exciting. Starting on the sales side, my role became more about shaping the future of how our products were perceived by our customers and working with homeowners to help them achieve their dream of using naturally durable, sustainable and healthy natural timbers.
Almost 10 years later, I have worked consulting on 100s of projects and continue to work alongside Murray within all areas of MacDirect's business. I also have the immense privilege of leading the MacDirect team of sawmillers, machinists, carpenters and workers to help achieve the goals of our homeowners, architects and builders.
My job is to guide and advise our customers on their projects and manage their experience of using Natural Macrocarpa Cypress timber... and for some, using it for the first time.
We are proud of the work we do and the relationships we have made and continue to help ensure Macrocarpa Cypress timbers remain an option in the building marketplace.
Having the choice to use Mac is essential to New Zealand's building offering, so much so there's renewed interest from government in how it can better serve our industry into the future. I believe in our product so much that I have become a minor owner in the business, and I look forward to growing and continuing to build on the strong foundations Murray has laid over the years.
